Charles Jeffrey graduated from London's Central Saint Martins in 2015, founding his own label shortly thereafter. He funded his MA and an internship by hosting a weekly club night called ‘Loverboy’ in London – and, as a result, the spirit of the city's nightlife is suffused in his electrifying collections. Each season he collaborates with a host of friends, ranging from artists to drag queens.
Glaswegian designer, illustrator and radical creative Charles Jeffrey, 27, is - to quote Dazed - ‘the ringleader of London's next generation of club kids.'
The meteoric rise of the Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY label is best encapsulated by Tim Blanks for Business of Fashion: "Jeffrey is speaking to young London the way Alexander McQueen spoke to his generation."
The past year has seen Jeffrey become one of the most talked-about names in fashion - with an LVMH Prize nomination, solo art exhibition at London's NOW Gallery and the British Emerging Talent prize at 2017's Fashion Awards under his belt.
His brand Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY encompasses a fashion label and a cult club night, each informing the other. The LOVERBOY night forms the primary research for Jeffrey's collections, with his tribe of friends and creative collaborators - artists, performers, musicians, drag queens and poets - contributing to the egalitarian spirit of the brand.
Whilst studying for his BA in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins, Charles was invited to hold his birthday party at legendary cult East London venue VF Dalston (Vogue Fabrics). After the event became one of the most talked-about happenings in London, he began the LOVERBOY series to fund his MA course at CSM.
After undertaking an internship in the couture atelier at Christian Dior, Jeffrey's work was spotted by Lulu Kennedy MBE. He showed for three seasons as part of Fashion East's MAN line-up in partnership with Topman.
